Race Briefing
Venue: The Buccoo Goat Racing Facility, Buccoo, Tobago
Date:  Friday 13th September 2024
Start time: 4:00pm (1600 Hrs)
Packet pick up and uniform checks will be conducted prior to the briefing.
Transportation will be provided from Belle Viste only for athletes attending the camp.

Race Venue
Trinidad and Tobago are the most southerly islands in the Caribbean chain. Tobago is top eco-tourism destination. Apart from its white sandy beaches and coral reefs, its protected rainforest is home to 260 species of birds while its beaches are visited annually by the majestic leatherback turtles who come to nest. The average September temperature is 29 degrees C and water temperature of 29 degrees C at race time. Buccoo Beach is a long narrow white-sand beach protected by the famous Buccoo Reef.
The race venue is located just 15 minutes from the ANR Robinson International Airport. The Buccoo race course was chosen for the first ever triathlon at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2023. Triathletes will swim in the calm, protected waters of Buccoo Bay; the ride would take them on a minor rolling 5km course while the run would be on a flat 1.25km course through the Buccoo village.  Athletes will cross the finish line in the world famous Buccoo Goat Racing Facility.

 
Athletes’ Lounge
The Athletes Lounge area is located in the Buccoo Goat Racing Facility. 

Medical Services  
First Aid will be available throughout the event and located next to the Athletes Tents. There will be an Ambulances on the course during the races. 
Required medical services at the venue are free of charge. Treatment in clinics and at private offices is to be paid by the participants. Athletes / teams should ensure that they have appropriate medical insurance. 
For any other medical attention needed outside of the competition, please contact the front desk of your Hotel for a local doctor’s details.

Bike Mechanic Service
Bike mechanic services will be available from Friday September 13. The bike mechanic is Linford Blackwood -367-0816. Cost for repairs is payable by the athlete.

Race Security
Marshals will be strategically placed to offer assistance and patrol the Field of Play on race day. Traffic management services will be employed in conjunction with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

There are various ATM facilities across the island. Main Banks are Scotiabank, FirstCaribbean, Republic Bank, RBC & First Citizens Bank.

Transportation
Transportation will only be provided to and from Designated Race Hotel, Plum Tree Club for participants in the camp. This includes:

● Airport arrival and departure,
● Race briefing
● Race site (familiarization and race day)
● Camp facilities
If not participating in the camp then you will be responsible for your own transportation.
Training
Swim Training
Buccoo Beach is open to the public and can be accessed for open water swimming. Store Bay is another recommended beach for open water swimming. The Tobago YMCA is in the Black Rock (Turtle Beach) area. A pay-toswim fee of TT$50/per lane is the usual charge which is payable to the administrative office upon arrival.  The facility has a 25m pool (10 lanes). Hours available for rental are 8:00 - 9:00am and 3:00 – 4:00pm. Tel: 1-868-787-0310.

Bike Training  
The roads in the area near to Belle Vise that leads out to the race venue are narrow and may be bumpy! The road to the back of Belle Viste is relatively quiet and may be used.

Run Training
Running withing a 1km radius of Belle Viste is relatively safe, caution must be used while running as it is a public road.

There will be a bike check prior to the bike course familiarization, the course is an open and busy road that will not be closed prior to race day.

There will be a course familiarization for the run course on Friday September 13th at 8:30am.

Swim Course Familiarization
There will be a course familiarisation for the swim course on Friday September 13th at 8:00am.

Competition Information & Rules
The races will follow the latest published competition rules of World Triathlon (WT). 
Elites should be aware that uniforms and bikes will be checked according to WT specifications. Please come with “legal” gear accordingly.
